My name is Ashley O’Hara and I have been practicing as a licensed clinical social worker since 2009, incorporating a holistic lifestyle approach and empowering individuals to make conscious choices to live wholehearted lives. I received a dual Bachelor’s degree in Psychology & Sociology and a Master’s degree in Social Work, both from the University of Pittsburgh. In keeping with the mind/body/spirit approach, I have been engaged in the study and practice of Yoga since 2006, as a method to deal with my own struggles with the stressors of life, anxiety and emotion regulation.  Completing 500+hrs of yoga certifications and endless continuing education, I also teach yoga asana classes and have been teaching for over a decade. Yoga has also opened doors for my exploration into spiritual life through the study of Bhakti Yoga and Mantra Meditation.

My Approach:

Having been trained in the four modalities of Dialectical Behavioral Therapy: Mindfulness, Distress Tolerance, Emotion Regulation, and Interpersonal Effectiveness, we use these skills that address “life on life’s terms” as a means of exploring behavioral change and emotional growth. We can strengthen these skills to help you feel more empowered in your life. I always consider using a variety of orientations according to your individual needs/concerns. Other approaches include: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT),  Mindfulness based, Interpersonal, Strengths-based, Positive Psychology, and Person-centered, Meditation and Yoga practices.

The most rewarding aspect of being a therapist is building relationships and connecting with people, assisting them in creating their authentic self and with navigating difficult life experiences. Sometimes, our perspective can get cloudy and we need help “cleaning the lens” through which we view ourselves, to discover a new awareness or maybe to develop a new pathway. If you are curious, looking for a new perspective, and have the willingness to try, the door is open and I am looking forward to being there with you on your journey to wellness.

Bhakti Yoga

In 2015 I met my her teacher Raghunath at a workshop. Meeting Raghunath and traveling to India with him for Pilgrimmage plunged me into an even deeper spiritual life. These experiences on pilgrimage have left lasting impressions on my heart.

As a Kirtan enthusiast, I loves sharing the practice of Kirtan and chanting with others. Kirtan is a way to connect our minds and hearts with the Divine, as there is no difference in chanting the mantras and the Divine energy Itself.

Ashley belongs to the Pittsburgh Kirtan Center in Lawrenceville, where they have a Kirtan program every Thursday evening. She is also the lead Bhakti teacher for Sneha’s 300hr Integrated Yoga Teacher Training.
