Soul Excavation: Unleash your Sacred Inner Rhythms

Explore the depths of your soul through an embodiment practice from the Divine Feminine perspective

Soul Excavation is an experiential practice based on the ancient wisdom of the chakras (wheels of energy) in which we turn what has been dark into light and what has been hidden into what can be loved and embraced. We do this by delving into a movement journey that incorporates an emphasis on authentic movement alongside a thoughtfully curated playlist of music. This practice moves us toward nurturing curiosity and reclaiming our true essence. It brings us back into alignment with the archetypes of Mother, Empress, Warrior, Lover, Communicator, Intuitive, and Guru. It's through these archetypes that we develop and strengthen our sense of agency.

Just as any soil needs to be tilled and turned over, our soul's soil needs tending to because an unexcavated soul becomes overgrown with the cares and noise of the external world and we find ourselves operating too often from an unquestioned, unconscious belief system. This practice invites us to cultivate the keen ability to listen to the voice inside, clearing the way for our sacred inner rhythms to show up in the form of imaginative dance, intuitive play, and unleashed creativity on and off our mat.

"Re-examine all you have been told at school or church or in any book, dismiss whatever insults your own soul, and your very flesh shall be a great poem and have the richest fluency not only in its words but in the silent lines of its lips and face and between the lashes of your eyes and in every motion and joint of your body."  Walt Whitman

Class: YinScapes Yoga & Sound Healing with Katherine Zitterbart (60 mins)

Soul Excavation with Nicole Zellie (60 mins)

Your co-pilots for the evening:

Katherine Zitterbart: Katherine 'Kayteezee' Zitterbart believes we are all worthy and deserving of sovereignty, agency, community, connection to the divine, pleasure, literacy, accommodation, and safe spaces and people. She has been working with bodies and breath for more than 30 years and centers Compassion, Communication, and Consent when she is teaching and consulting. Katie has a breath and depth of knowledge that includes emotional regulation, sexual alchemy, and yoga. Katie's Consent Consulting provides a framework through which providers explore and experiment with embodied consent and communication to add new tools for maintaining authority while cultivating a safer experience for patients.

Nicole Zellie has been a mover and a dancer ever since she was born. You could always count on her to be on the dancefloor in any club, party, or event. She believes we are all natural born dancers; we just might have forgotten our way as we started ‘adulting’ too much.

She began her yogic journey in 2000 when she started practicing yoga in several studios in New Jersey.  There isn’t a style of yoga she hasn’t practiced, but she always felt drawn to the styles that are more creative and gave her the same sense of freedom she experienced on the dance floor.

During her Yoga Teacher Training in 2003 she discovered a practice that combined yoga with dance called YogaRhythmics®.  The Universe and stars aligned as the founder, Connie Miller happened to be offering one of her last YT trainings so Nicole quickly signed up.  She hasn’t stopped teaching her ‘passion practice’ since.

She believes that yoga is more than a series of movements, it's a way of life. As we practice humility, grace, breath, playfulness, and compassion on the mat, those qualities nestle their way into our lives off the mat. Nicole’s mission is to help people connect with their inner child and playful nature through movement and self-discovery. In her classes you will be invited to embrace joy, be present together, bridge worlds, and express yourself in your own way.

When she's not practicing or teaching yoga, you can find her and her husband Mike on the soccer field cheering on their son Jack, walking her dog Cookie in Schenley Park, curled up with a book written by Glennon Doyle, Brene Brown, or Pema Chodron or listening to one of their insightful podcasts.
